TRICARE is the healthcare program for Uniformed Service members, retirees, and their families worldwide.

Many NABH members are TRICARE-certified.

Other NABH members work in a variety of ways, including providing direct services to military families, veterans, and active-duty military; innovative hiring programs; and more.

Addiction

NABH is working to ensure that Americans with addictive disorders receive the right services, in the right setting, at the right time.

IMD Exclusion

Eliminating the IMD exclusion would give states flexibility to contract with cost-effective, efficient, and high-quality treatment programs, which would help lower costs and increase access.

NABH and its members are committed to the delivery of responsive, accountable, and clinically effective prevention, treatment, and care for children, adolescents, adults, and older adults with mental and substance use disorders.

Partial Hospitalization

NABH has been a major proponent and supporter of the Medicare partial hospitalization benefit since the inception of the benefit in the late 1980s. NABH worked with Congress in crafting the legislation, which became the basis for this benefit.

Parity

Mental health parity has won unprecedented support from consumers, providers, hospitals, employers, and health insurers. With millions of Americans experiencing psychiatric and addictive conditions, having coverage that is on par with that of other medical conditions is a win for America.

Information Technology

The ultimate goal of widespread adoption of health information technology – to save American lives through improved coordination of care – is particularly relevant to persons with mental and addictive disorders.

Ligature Risk

In collaboration with consumers, nurses, psychiatrists, and others, NABH has developed an array of resources to help members work to reduce the use of restraint and seclusion.

Youth Services

The National Association for Behavioral Healthcare (NABH) believes that making behavioral health for youth a priority is an investment in our children – and ultimately in our nation’s future.

Medicaid

In November 2015, Congress approved and sent to the President legislation to extend and expand the “Medicaid Emergency Psychiatric Care Demonstration,” which is a top NABH priority.

Medicare

Medicare (Title XVIII) is the federal health insurance program that provides protection to persons 65 years of age and over and to persons eligible for Social Security Disability payments for more than two years.

Workforce

The demand for behavioral healthcare continues to exceed the supply of qualified treatment professionals. NABH calls for legislation to require increased Medicare reimbursement rates for behavioral healthcare providers to levels comparable with reimbursement rates for general medical providers.
